Online sellers operating in the UK have now got an excellent new free service to help them reduce their shipping costs. A new price comparison web site has been launched which makes it easy for sellers to find the cheapest shipping prices for their type of operation.
There are 10 companies currently in the comparison chart. My Hermes, UK Mail, Collect My Parcel.com, City Link, World Wide Parcel Service, Royal Mail, Parcel Force, DHL, DPD, UPI and TNT. When you visit the site parcelchecker.co.uk you simply use a slider to enter the average weight of the parcels you send out and the average weekly number that you dispatch. The checker will then calculate the cost from each of the 10 companies.
In the check that I carried out I selected 9 parcels a week averaging 2.5 kg. The most expensive company would have charged £15,300 and the cheapest as little as £7,300. Royal Mail came in around the middle at an annual cost of nearly £13,000 with Parcel Force around £2000 less than that. With a difference of £8,000 between the most expensive and the cheapest it really shows that it pays to shop around when it comes to shipping.
