advice for you.

Don't fall into any of these mental traps while

Are you leaving money on the table?

Hi Everyone

Are you wasting one of eBay’s most valuable assets? eBay is the 4th most visited site on the Internet. Now you can profit from this huge volume of traffic. So many people are trying to build a web-site and then trying desperately to get traffic to their web-site. Why not simply go to where the traffic is? Go to eBay! You don't even need a web-site! (If you have a web-site get ready for a serious TRAFFIC BOOST). What's the secret? It has to do with the fact that about 80,000 people sign up for eBay.com every day! And over 700,000 people make a living on eBay!

Jim Cockrum has discovered a simple way to profit from that HUGE volume of traffic. There are over 100 million members & over 1.5 Billion page views per month on eBay. In his e-book THE SILENT SALES MACHINE he shows how you can take full advantage of that traffic. I promise you have never been exposed to ideas like these.

If I could only have one book on how to build my eBay business it would be THE SILENT SALES MACHINE. The latest updated 6th version has just been released and I strongly recommend that you go to: Click Here! And take a look now!

Best Regards

eBay complaints and a possible solution.

Last week, whilst catching up on my email's as usual after a few days away I opened this letter enclosed asking for advice following an issue with the eBay complaint's procedures. Where bye I couldn't possibly answer every request for help personally that I receive, I felt this was an area that I could perhaps publish occasionally on UK Auctionline and give the issues a wider audience. I am sure that some of you will let me know if you think it a worthwhile exercise or not!

eBay Announce new fee structure and rules for Buy it Now and Stores

eBay have announced revised fees for Auction and Buy It Now listings. For Buy it now there is a 300% increase in the insertion fee, for non Media items, up from 10p to 40p. This massive price rise has been slightly offset by the introduction of a 30 Day Buy It now time length. For sellers who opt for the new 30 day listing for 40p this represents just a 33% rise, (still well above inflation!)

For media sellers there are smaller increases up from 10p to 20p per insertion but for regular sellers the new 30 day listing for 20p represents a 50% reduction.

There are also changes in the cost of Listing in eBay Shops.

Basic Shop 30 day listing 10p
Featured Shop 30 day listing 5p
Anchor Shop 30 day listing 1p

Why Using HTML is Essential for eBay.

A great article from Brian Cahill. Very useful.
Regards
SteveH

For our purposes, HTML simply means formatting the text in
your listings. HTML allows you to choose text colours, styles
like bold, underline, text size and much more.

You may or may not have heard of HTML before, but if you don't
use it on eBay for your listings, then you're losing out, big time.

HTML is essential for your eBay listings if you want to maximise
success. All the Powersellers use it, and so should you.

Listings that don't use HTML look terrible and amateurish and
put off potential customers.

Don't worry, it really is simple and quick to learn a few HTML
basics, but before I show you, let me give an example of what
HTML is.

Legal obligation to register as a business

A timely reminder for those eBayer's whose hobby has grown into a successful business, without them realising they could be falling foul of the law. If you are not sure please check up before they come looking for you!!

Regards
Steve H

We'd like to remind business sellers on eBay.co.uk that you should register as an eBay business now, if you haven't already done so.

The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 came into force in the UK on 26th May 2008. The regulations introduce a general duty not to trade unfairly and seek to ensure that traders act honestly and fairly towards their customers. It is a criminal offence in the UK for a business to falsely claim or create the impression that it is not acting for purposes relating to its trade, business, craft or profession or to falsely represent itself as a consumer.

Sellers who mislead potential buyers into thinking that they are a private individual when they are in fact a business seller (i.e. by not registering as a business seller with eBay) will be breaking the law.

Find out more about eBay.co.uk - the law and policies that affect you.

Business sellers on eBay.ie should note that the same offence also exists in Ireland (under the Consumer Protection Act 2007 - 1 May 2007). For more information, go to: eBay.ie - the law and policies that affect you

Regards,

Ebay -An update on our fraud prevention efforts

The sooner we all work to stamp out fraud in this market place the better!

Regards
Steve H

Over the last couple of years, we've introduced a lot of changes in the marketplace and made significant progress in our fraud prevention efforts. We wanted to give you an overview of how our initiatives fit into an overall strategy.

Preventing fraud:

    * We've made it harder for fraudsters to open new accounts by using stronger identity verification.
* We've worked with the likes of Yahoo! and Google to block phishing emails before they get to your inbox.
* Later this year, we'll prevent accounts from being taken over by requiring anyone attempting to list an item from an 'unknown' computer to go through identity confirmation.

Removing fraud visibility:

    * We prevent items most favoured by fraudsters appearing in search immediately to give fraud detection algorithms and teams more time to detect fraud.
* In March 2008, we expanded the use of anonymised bidder IDs to all auction-style listings, resulting in a 90 per cent reduction in fake Second Chance Offers.
* In 2009, we'll prevent malicious content by controlling 'active' user-generated content in listings.

Ensuring safer transactions:

    * We now require all sellers to accept PayPal and sellers of higher-risk items to accept PayPal only.
* Later this year, anonymous email forwarding via our secure member-to-member communication system will keep pre-sale communications safe on eBay and keeps buyers e-mail addresses anonymous and protected. If you ever suspect that an email you receive isn't legitimate, forward it to us at spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com to help protect yourself and other members.

While we do all we can to make the marketplace as safe as possible, you also play an important role. Your community reports help us to clean up listings that slip through the cracks, so please report any fraudulent listings you see to help protect yourself and other members.

Regards,

Get a Competitive Edge on eBay With Video

Hi Everyone,

I thought you may like to take a look at this article sent to me by Andy Geldman - Site Editor
The Auction Software Review

Web: http://www.auctionsoftwarereview.com.

Great info if you can master the intricacies of video.
Regards
Steve H

Dan Wilson explains how eBay sellers can boost their business by using video in their auctions.

When you're a seller, success doesn't just depend on what you're selling. Customers also judge you by how you sell and the techniques you employ to engage and persuade them. In an eBay context, this means that quality listings with winning titles, great pictures and amazing descriptions are as vital as setting the right price. Indeed, better listings can often get higher prices than identical products from other sellers so it's essential to review your listings regularly to make sure they're working as hard as they possibly can for you.

The eBay marketplace is more crowded and competitive than ever before and, with the recent slew of changes, there's never been a better time to make sure you have an edge over your competitors. On eBay, even a small change to the way you display your items make the difference between a browser turning into a buyer or looking elsewhere.

Including a video in your eBay listings should be on your list of things to consider as you review your listings. Not only are videos easy to make and a quick way of connecting with buyers, they're also used by a relatively small number of sellers. According to research we've done at vzaar, fewer than 1% of listings include a video so it is an easy way of standing out from the crowd and clinching additional sales. Jack Fitzgerald of industryrecycles has been using videos in his listings for a few months and is convinced they are helping him attract business from his competitors: "Videos are attracting 43% more visitors and as a result are gaining us more bids and more sales. We have sold every item we have placed on eBay that contains video." Video is great for items that move or make a sound

An update on Feedback - eBay

Another announcement from the eBay team about the recent changes and news of more to come.

Regards
Steve H

Earlier this year we made significant changes to the Feedback system to improve seller standards and give buyers even greater confidence and trust when buying on the site. As a result weve already seen more sellers improving their standards, as measured by Detailed Seller Ratings, and fewer buyers reporting bad experiences.

At the same time weve heard concerns from sellers about key areas of Feedback. Based on what youve told us, were making the following changes:
