News - ***Changes coming soon to Feedback***

The following is an announcement with further news on the impending changes to eBay's feedback system.

Regards
Steve H

Following on from our announcement back in January, wed now like to confirm that changes to the Feedback system will come into effect on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie from 15 May.

Why are we making changes?
Were aiming to restore the trust and transparency thats at the heart of the Feedback system. We want buyers to be able to rate sellers honestly so that other buyers can tell good and bad sellers apart more easily and have total confidence in who theyre buying from.

Were also recognising sellers who attract repeat buyers this is a clear indication of good service. At the moment, a number of feedback ratings from the same buyer count as a single rating, but from 15 May onwards a sellers Feedback score will reflect all the feedback theyve been left.

News - The QXL UK auction site is closing on 30 May, 2008.

Shock news just in.

QXL is the second largest online auctionsite in the UK is to cease trading in the UK. Could it be that the proliferation of Auction sites in to the UK marketplace has squeezed QXL into submission. Or is it that eBay's stranglehold on the UK market was just to much of a challenge? I don't know the answer, but thought you should all be kept updated. Look out for more news as it breaks.

The full statement from QXL is published below.

News - Have they moved the goal posts?

In a recent address given to a select gathering of current and potential eBay sellers a view of eBay’s vision for the future was given by Lorrie Norrington. the President of eBay Global Marketplace Operations. Below is a transcript of her presentation which raises some interesting points for UK based eBay sellers.

You have only to visit one of the many eBay related forums to realise the amount of discontent there has been with the feedback arrangements. However, many sellers might question the value of the new system that does not allow the seller to leave anything other than a positive feedback.

My own view is that eBay is far more interested in increasing the number of corporate and business sellers at the expense of the small home based sellers. Many subscribers have expressed concern over some of the proposed changes especially the new fee structure. There is no doubt that for most of us the goal posts are being moved but do not take my word for it, read the transcript and see what you think.

Detailed Seller Ratings (DSR) are only a part of the equation and Ebay put a lot of emphasis on their importance. I feel there will be a lot of discussion and arguments for and against, and as always the decision to trade in this marketplace is for you and you alone. Please enjoy the article and watch this space.

Great Customer Experience?

Steve H
