Dave's Comment

Hello <$firstname$>

Welcome to the 58 issue of UK Auctionline. I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming the many new subscribers.

The Christmas season is now well and truly over and it is back to what we call normal in the world of eBay trading. I hope you were able to cash in on the big

increase in Internet selling in the run up to the holiday period.

I have to admit I spent some of the holiday break working on Alex Jefferey’s new program “Easy Auction Profits” As I toldyou last month I had just received my copy and was very keen to give it a try. I have written a short article to tell you how I am doing with it so far.

I was pleased to see that eBay have decided not to allow the sale of the “Diana Concert” tickets on eBay. In there release they say. “In view of the unique and commemorative nature of the Concert for Diana event and as a mark of respect for the memory of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, we’ve decided to prohibit the resale of tickets to this event on the site” A wise decision because eBay attracted a considerable

amount of adverse publicity over the LiveAid tickets sales.

eBays first special of 2007 takes place tomorrow 11 th January when all listing will be at the special price of 10p. Talking of prices I have seen no mention of any changes in the eBay fees as yet but they usually announced around this time of the year so keep your eyes open.

I am beginning to wonder whether the eBay purchase of Skype was such a good idea for the company. They have had it for quite a while now and it doesn’t seem to have made too much of an impact. It will be interesting to see what advances eBay make with Skype this year.

All in all 2007 looks like another interesting and I hope profitable year for eBay entrepreneurs.

Article:The Big Problem For Wouldbe Ebay Entrepreneurs

by Dave Bromley

There are no end of articles, books and courses that tell you how easy it is to make big money selling items on eBay and the other online auctions. What many of these do not tell you is how difficult it is to find suitable products to sell. Most people start by selling off surplus items that they already own, a great way to clear the loft or garage of all that junk. But eventually that source of supply dries up.. and then what?

There are thousands upon thousands of products that you could sell. You could find them at flea markets, wholesalers, dropshippers or even advertised on eBay. But the truth is that many of them will not give you a good enough profit in return for the time effort and money that you will have invest in the project.

The solution to the problem is research. You need to discover two facts. First what is actually selling on eBay and secondly where you can source such items at a reasonable price. The first is comparatively easy. All you need to do is to search through all the auction categories.

One of the great advantages of eBay is that its operation is very transparent and it is very easy to discover what is actually selling and for how much. All the information is there and you can easily see if a particular type of product is selling well and how strong the competition is. It is difficult to imagine any other market place where it is so easy to research the supply and demand for any specific product.

The second part of your research can be more difficult finding your product source.

Quite honestly it can be a jungle out there. Many wholesalers and dropshippers are little more than middlemen who are just out to take a chunk of your potential profits.

You will also see advertised lists of wholesalers and these can often prove a complete waste of time. If you want to find details of wholesalers go to www.yellowpages.com (www.yell.com in the UK) and type in the word wholesalers and you will get details of as many wholesalers as you will ever need.

Many sellers are lazy and will not leave their computers when searching for suppliers and you can benefit from this. One of the best places to find new products to sell on eBay are trade fairs and shows. Most industries have trade fairs and you can find out dates and details for many of these events at http://www.eventseye.com or http://www.exhibitions.co.uk for the UK. A big tip if you do attend trade fairs is to get a supply of business cards produced. Many trade exhibiters will ask you for one and not only does in establish your credibility it is a sure way of being added to their mailing list.

If you live in or are visiting the UK next month then you might like to visit the UK's largest Gift Fair at the National Exhibition Centre. This is a great show for sourcing products for more information and to register for tickets go to the Spring Fair Web Site at http://www.springfair.com

Despite what you may hear many eBay sellers make pennies on the dollar purely because they are not prepared to do the work it takes to find the right products and suppliers. If you are then you too can start earning the big money that all those articles, books and courses talk about. It really is up to you.

Article:How To Ensure You Get Bidders For Your Ebay Auctions

By: Kb Lim

I remember when I first started selling on ebay 5 years ago, I did not get any bids at all on my first 8 ebay auctions. Regardless of what others may say about people making tons of money selling on ebay or people making a full-time income on ebay, I could not sell a single item.
Fast forward to today, I have managed to get a 90 percent closing rate on my auctions. That means out of 10 items I auctioned, 9 will get bids. It took me a long time to realize the mistakes I made and gradually over the years, I learned and tested which auctions will get bids and which doesn't.
There are too many reasons why auctions don't get bids. I won't be able to cover them all at once. But I will list the top 3 big reasons.
1. Not all categories are created the same.
Do you know some categories have high closing rates as much as 90 percent while others can have as low as 30 percent? This means some auctions in certain categories have a 90 percent chance of getting a bid while other categories may only have a 30 percent chance.
How do I know this? Through research. The single biggest mistake most newbie sellers on ebay make is not doing research. Why is research important? Because only then can you determine what's selling hot and in demand and what's not. You can determine how much an item which you may be thinking of selling is being sold. You can determine when and what period of the year a particular item is being sold like hot cakes.
The best part is this research information is right on ebay. Ebay Pulse is a good place to start however it does not provide enough information. If you are treating ebay as a full-time business, I recommend using ebay marketplace research where you can get more in-depth statistics and analysis. They have 3 different plans, Fast Pass, Basic and Pro with each higher plan more expensive.
2. Be Specific
There are usually thousands of auctions in any given categories. Some of the general categories can have tens of thousands of auctions running. Most visitors do not browse more than 2 pages of auctions when buying. Most visitors use the ebay search tool to find what they are interested. Therefore, it is important your auction title needs to be as specific as possible. Why?
Let me give you an example. Suppose I'm looking to buy a DVD player. Let's say I am interested in Sony DVD player model SG-1038. What I would do and most buyers do would be to type in "sony dvd player SG-1038" in the ebay search tool. Therefore, if your auction title has any of the words I entered, your auction will be shown.
Now the important point is this. When visitors type a specific model, less auctions are shown from the search results and those auctions have a greater chance of being checked out by the visitor. Reason being it is exactly what the visitor is looking for. Your auction description also has to provide as much specific information as possible.
3. Pricing
One rule to remember, never start your opening bid at $50 or more. The reason is what I termed as "burnoff". It means your auctions scars off potential buyers even before they click on that link to check out the description. If you can't sell below a certain price, set a reserve price instead.
Last piece of advise, do not charge too much for shipping. Customers are not dumb. Plus ebay has a shipping calculator which let buyers calculate the estimated cost. If you charge too much for shipping, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

The eBay.co.uk Primer

It is a fact that e-books about eBay sell very well on eBay. Therefore I expect my latest e-book "The eBay.co.uk Primer to do well. It is brand new and has not been offered for sale anywhere before. The book covers buying and selling on eBay and is designed for those fairly new to online auctions.

It comes with Master Resale Rights which means that you can sell it and allow others to sell it as well. At only $9.95 (around £5) it is attractively priced and should prove a good seller. You can also use the web page and just alter it to include your details .

Books that are offered with Master Resale Rights usually have a short but profitable life before they start appearing at knockdown prices and as bonuses. So it pay to get in early and this is as early as it gets.

Article - The Secret to Ebay Store Success

by Jason James

If you care to take the time to look, there is more advice out there on the Internet about how to be successful with your Ebay store than you could ever possibly read in a lifetime. Ebay itself offers plenty of advice for newcomers to the world of online auctions that can be quite useful. But at the end of the day everything will really boil down to just one thing: excellent customer service.
Living and Dying by Reputation
When you are first starting out in any business it is absolutely vital to generate positive feedback from customers. This not only helps you get their business in the future, but it also helps generate word of mouth advertising about your company. An Ebay business is definitely no exception to this rule.
A company offering the absolute cheapest product or service possible will still die if it treats customers poorly. Although you cannot please every single person that uses your Ebay store to buy something, it is definitely possible to keep the vast majority pleased with the services you provide.
Accurate Descriptions
Since the customer cannot physically touch or see the actual item you are trying to sell at your Ebay store, descriptions are absolutely critical. Misrepresenting an item may yield you a few dollars more on the winning bid but the negative feedback can absolutely destroy your reputation and any chances of true success using online auctions to make a living.
Also, you want to write your descriptions so that you anticipate most questions a customer may have about the item. You still have to respond to customer questions as soon as possible but you certainly don't want to be bogged down all day shooting e-mails back to people. Try to think of all the questions a customer might have before writing your description so you can write it so that almost all of these questions are answered in the description itself.
Clear Photos
Never be tempted to use trickery or odd angles to misrepresent your item with a photo. Again, negative feedback kills more Ebay business owners and their dreams than you would ever believe. Look carefully at the picture you plan to post with your listing and ask yourself if it accurately represents what you are selling. If it does not, take another picture that does.
Transactions
It can honestly be intimidating for customers to use the Internet to buy the things they want and Ebay auctions can be even scarier. People want to believe that they are buying from a reputable and honest seller who is professional in every respect. You send this very message by making the transaction as convenient as possible.
All of your terms should be clearly listed up front so that there is no chance for confusion. Inform customers about your shipping charges and consider including the Ebay calculator in your listing so that they can figure them out themselves and cut down on questions that you will have to respond to.
Be certain to include your return and warranty policies so that you did everything possible to inform the customer of precisely what they are getting should they decide to buy from you. You may want to consider making an occasional exception to your policies in the interest of avoiding negative feedback, but that is something you, as owner of your Ebay store, have to decide on a case by case basis.
Include as many payment options as you can reasonably accommodate. Fewer options generally means few bids and less profitable online auctions for your Ebay store.
By following these simple guidelines and being sure to make the customer feel as special as possible, you will build a great reputation on Ebay. In the end, this will help grow your Ebay business and keep your business thriving.

Guest Article: Can You Really Make Money Selling New Release CD's & DVD's On
Ebay?

By Joe Clare

Being an active eBayer, I am often being asked about products to sell. A common question is "Where can I purchase products such as new release CD's DVD's and Video Games for Playstation
and X box at a 75% to 100% discount. Well folks, this sort of discount on this type of merchandise is not available from Wholesalers or Dropshippers. The reason being, the competitive nature of the electronics industry, and simple supply anddemand.

Still with the tremendous popularity of these products and their ease to package and ship, people want to sell them. So where can you find these products at a great price? Liquidators! Yes that's right, Liquidators! What exactly are Liquidators? You Ask. Well, as explained in my book "eBay Marketing Wholesale SourcePak" a Liquidator is a company who buys surplus, over runs, bankruptcies, and going out of business inventory etc. They purchase this merchandise for pennies on the dollar and in turn pass this saving on to you.

There are many Liquidators who would have just what you are looking for. There are General Merchandise Liquidators who basically purchase and sell all sorts of general merchandise.
And, there are Liquidators who specialize and only purchase and sell merchandise in a specific niche - say electronics.

An Electronics Liquidator would purchase products from music stores or department stores with an electronics dept or movie rental stores or electronic stores that are going out of business, declaring bankruptcy or who have overstock. From that inventory they would have some of the latest CD's, DVD's and Video Games.

Liquidators are similar to Wholesalers and Dropshippers in that you will have to become a member to have access to their inventory. Most require no fee to become a member, while others may charge a nominal fee. However, Liquidators have a set number of units you must buy in order to get a great price. A Liquidator will purchase inventory in bulk and therefore will want to sell the merchandise in cases or lots.

So, Yes You can make Good Money Selling New Release CD's, DVD's and, Video Games and the likes on your eBay auction by choosing the proper supplier. And remember that selling on eBay is all
about research. You must research the product you are interested in selling. What is the best price for the item? What is the best selling price you can get for that item? Also, research that item's market to see just how many people are selling this product.

Happy Selling!

3 Dropshipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay

eBay new digital rules

When I first met Alex Jeffrey he struck me as a bright young man who knew where he was going. Now four months later he has launched his product and I am not disappointed.

His product Easy Auction Profits will show anyone how to generate a good regular income from eBay. But having said that it is not a “no work get rich scheme”. To make his plan pay requires time and effort especially in the initial setting up. The good news is that once it is set up and established it will require very little ongoing support from you.

I am always looking for additional streams of income so obviously Easy Profit Auctions appealed to me. With the 10 day Christmas break this seemed an ideal time to put Alex’s system to the test. To be honest I had hoped to be able to tell you that

by now I was up and running and making money but to be truthful I have still not

launched my products on eBay. This is in part due to a problem with my Turbo Lister

program but hopefully I should be up and running in the next few days.

A couple of holdups were due to the fact that Alex did not add all the training videos when he launched his product. But these are now online and it should be much easier for you to get started.

I don’t want to give too much away but basically once you have set up the system which offers downloadable digital information products it will run totally hands off.

To achieve this you need to use eBay’s Sales manager Pro and a new piece of software called Smart DD. But the program does more than just selling items for you on eBay it also helps you build your opt in list and boosts your off eBay sales.

Some of my problems in setting up were also in part due to the fact that Frank Heywood the designer of Smart DD had not finished putting all his instructional material online when the product was launched. I have spoken to Frank who was really helpful in sorting out our questions and he tells me that all the required information is now or soon will be in place.

I am away for the next three days but when I return I hope to have my new eBay site based on the Easy Auction Profits up and running. I will tell you next month how it is doing.

» Dave's Final Thoughts

Personally I was not sorry to see the back of 2006, for me for several personal reasons it was not a good year. But the new year offers fresh challenges and opportunities for us all. I don't believe in resolutions because they are too easy to break, but I do believe in setting goals.

Do you run or are thinking about running an eBay business? If so what do you want to achieve from that business in 2007?

Why not grab a piece of paper now and right down your eBay gool for 2007 now.

If you are happy with your goal spend an hour or so planning how you will achieve it.

OK you have got a goal and you have a plan andnow it only need one more thing.

For you to take action. (Remember for as long as you do nothing that is exactly what you will achieve)

Make up your mind now 2007 is going to be a GREAT year for you.

Dave
