News
from eBay
EBay
have announced 3 new initiatives in the last two weeks. Possibly
one of the most important is the announcement of a change
in the Feedback policy. Up until now if someone submitted
a negative feedback against you there was very little you
could do about it.
There
is of course the option, if you are a Square Trade member
of applying to have them mediate, but this service costs $20
and even then does not guarantee a result. Often a negative
feedback is submitted in error or through inexperience of
the system. From the 9th February a Mutual Feedback Withdrawal
system is going to be introduced.
Ebay
say that this change has been driven by a community demand
for choices about withdrawing inadvertent or regretted feedback.
Surprisingly, although the system allows for the negative
feedback to be removed by mutual consent the comment will
remain. At least I think it is a step in the right direction.
The
second improvement announced is the implementation of a number
of enhancements within the Help system. EBay say that these
changes are designed to enhance the ability to quickly find
assistance on eBay. They are due to appear shortly.
I notice that one of the new enhancements is a new Contact
Us feature - for clear visible access to Customer Support.
Does this mean they will be able to ignore our questions even
more quickly?
A
new option for the Buy It Now feature has been introduced.
This is an immediate payment option, which means that the
buyer must pay at the time they agree to buy.
P ayment must be made by Paypal and this system can only be
used by Paypal Premier or Business account holders.
I
was reading an article in this months edition of Money Master
magazine were the Editor Shirley Garlick was complaining about
the free listing days. I must admit that I had always been
in favour of these but as Shirley pointed out what happens
thousands of items are listed, on these days, Many of them
have failed to sell on previous occasions or at ridiculously
high prices.
The
general effect is to slow the whole system down and the knock
on effect is to reduce sales for the serious sellers. I was
talking to one guy the other day who told me he listed over
1000 items on the last free day and sold a grand total of
14 items!!
What are your thoughts about these Free Listing Days. Are
they good or bad?
