Selling on eBay
Selling on eBay is not as easy as some of the so called “experts” would have you believe. There are basically three hurdles the eBay seller has to overcome. Firstly you have to get the potential buyer/bidder to view your listing , secondly you have to gain their interest and finally you have to arouse them to take action and either buy or make a bid for your item. Here are 7 tips which could help you do just this.
Tip 1. Include all the relevant keywords in your title.
The majority of serious buyers will use the eBay search facility when searching for items they are interested in. This search process uses the title of listings to find suitable products. Therefore it is important to ensure that you include as many of the words or phrases that someone is likely to use when searching for an item. Now that eBay have increased the number of characters you can use in the title from 55 to 80 this gives you th opportunity to add more keywords.
Tip 2. Ensure your photograph shows off your item to its best effect.
Make sure that the photograph that you use is clear and shows off the item to its best advantage. Yes, it is important to include a photograph with every listing so it might as well be the best you can produce. If possible try and make it a photograph of the actual item you are selling an not some stock photograph you have taken from the manufacturers web site.
Tip 3 Give as much information as possible
There have always been arguments as to whether you should have a short or long listing. In my opinion you can never have a too long a listing, only a too boring one. Include all the relevant facts and highlight the benefits of your item. Put yourself in the buyers shoes, what information would you want, size, model number, battery life so include everything relevant.
Tip 4.Have an About Me page
People like to know who they are buying from and by having an eBay About Me page you can let them know about you. In addition to this it gives you an opportunity to tell people about any web site or affiliate site that you have. It costs nothing and it can help boost your sales.
Tip 5 Clearly state your terms and conditions.
By clearly stating your terms and conditions not only are you displaying a professional approach but also helping to avoid any possible misunderstandings.
Tip 6 Keep shipping costs to a minimum
EBay does everything to ensure that the buyers re only charged a fair and reasonable shipping charges. The buyer also has the opportunity to comment in the feedback if they consider the shipping cost to be excessive.
Tip 7 Highlight your feedback
You work hard to gain good feedback records so do not be afraid to shout about it in your listing. Invite buyers to go and look at your feedback. There is nothing that gives potential buyers/bidders confidence to order than evidence that they are dealing with a trustworthy person.
If you following these 7 tips you will find selling on eBay could be a little easier.
