eBay have opened its first pop-up store, a 5,500-square-foot shop in midtown Manhattan, New York dubbed “eBay @ 57th St. The store offers samples of 400 products, which shoppers can purchase online from eBay sellers using touch-screen kiosks or eBay’s iPhone app.
The shop is due to open its doors on 29th Nnovember, presumably timed for the busty Christmas shopping period.
AS part of the opening razmataz the store also have on display one-of-a-kind items from leading designers and celebrities which are to be sold be sold to benefit various charities. In addition, all online purchases made at the pop-up shop will be matched dollar-for-dollar by eBay, up to $200,000.
X Box warning
Recently Microsoft have banned nearly 1 million users from their online gaminmg service after they modified their consoles to play pirated games. As a result there has been an upsurge of these X Boxes going on sale on eBay.
As the ban is connected to the console rather than a gamer's online account anyone purchasing one of these consoles may find they will not work. eBay have issue a warning on the subject which canb be found at X Box eBay Warning
Microsoft has said that all bans are permanent to the console and no affected units will be permitted back onto Xbox Live on any account. So you have been warned if you are looking for a cheap second hand X Box.
EBay Search Breaks Down
Yesterday, 21st November eBay search facility went down for all users. This was caused by a problem in the eBay backup systems and resulted in a failure to deliver results from the search box. I tested the system today and it seems to be back to normal but eBay have sent out the following email to subscribers
“As you may know, the eBay.com site has been experiencing issues with search results since Saturday morning US Pacific time. This same issue is also affecting RSS and API feeds in the US as well as a few additional countries. As a result, any creative placements and widgets that use these systems may not be rendering correctly on your sites.
A number of technical teams have been working all day on fixing the issue and will continue through the evening/night until it is resolved. We may also delay posting earnings and EPC?s on Sunday while we assess the overall impact.
Please check this thread on the board for updates: http://forums.ebay.com/db2/topic/Ebay-Partner-Network/Rss-Feeds-Down/520169406?start=30msg513212693”
I just wonder how many sellers lost out through their items not being able to be accessed during the breakdown.
