What is eBay Express all about?
Back in June 2006 eBay announced the introduction of a new service called eBay Express. This was a new concept in which new items in certain categories would not only appear in the eBay Buy It Now area but also in eBay Express for no extra charge.
eBay said that this was in response to feedback that they had received showing that a percentage of eBay users wanted a no fuss non auction option of buying new items there and then. It was from this that eBay Express was born.
There are certain limitations because this service appears to be intended more for what eBay call “professional” sellers.. For instance all potential eBay Express sellers have to meet the following criteria:
1. The seller must be based in the UK and the seller's items must be located in the UK
2. The seller must register (or already be registered) as a business on the eBay.co.uk website
3. The seller must register (or already be registered) with PayPal as the holder of a Verified Business or Premier Account
4. The seller must complete (or have already completed) PayPal's "Recommended Steps for Merchants" to provide PayPal with the their business details.
Once a sale is made payment is made before the seller is informed of the sale and once they have been notified sellers can dispatch the item knowing the payment has already been received.
The rules placed on the sellers include:
1. Sellers may only list and sell new and unused items on eBay Express.
2. Sellers may only sell items at a fixed price on eBay Express
3. Sellers may only list items that are located within the UK.
4. Sellers must list items in the appropriate category*
5. Sellers must provide an accurate and complete description of each item and provide at least one clear photograph of the listed item.
6. Sellers must specify the P&P costs for delivering items to buyers in their listings and such P&P costs must be reasonable.
The categories that currently are permitted for eBay Express are:
Audio, TV & Electronics , Baby & Nursery, Home & GardenBooks, Cameras & Photo, Clothes & Shoes, Computing, Health & Beauty, Jewellery & Watches,Mobile Phones,Music & DVDs, Sports & Leisure, Toys & Games
Video Games,
Currently eBay Express is not available for eBay.ei.
