EBay- Winners and losers
Two stories have come out this week that show that on eBay sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Let start off with the losers, they are all those people who queued outside Topshop on the 30th April to buy their 5 Kate Moss design dresses and then rushed home to list them on eBay.
It appears that Kate’s designed have not fired the imagination of the fashion conscious young things and the dresses are proving hard to shift online. One example is the red dress that Kate wore herself for the opening. Only 100 copies were available and they all sold out for £195 each. Many subsequently appeared on eBay but are not selling well and current bids are just over the £100 mark.
This weeks winner was sci fi fan Tony Alleyne who has sold his Star Trek style one bedroom flat in Leicestershire for the staggering sum of £425,000. After his marriage broke up Tony decieed to turn his flat into a replica of the flight deck of the Starship Voyager. This has taken him 2 years and around £30,000 but his efforts have paid off. Having purchased the flat 10 years ago for £27,000 and with similar properties selling for around £80,000 Tony listed it on eBay for £130,000.
The successful bidder is reported to be a Birmingham businessman who wishes not surprisingly to remain anonymous.
